Cheyenne Kelsey2024-10-15Absolutely unforgettable and most genuine experience. I had booked an emergency appointment and when I had assumed that it was only going to be a quick check up, they actually made time for me to get a cleaning done right then. I had to book an appointment for 2 fillings to be done (I had needed to get them done for years but was terrified of the dentist so I put it off constantly), when I went to get my fillings done, they got me in a chair and freezing done within 10 minutes of my arrival. The dentist was super vocal and very transparent in explaining what he was doing and what medical devices were being used and their purpose. My first filling, started to trigger my PTSD, and as soon as he was about to switch to the second filling, I let him know my PTSD was triggered, I also disclosed the trauma related to my PTSD and that I needed a minute to calm down and call my mom. He was so understanding. He reassured me that it was not my fault, that it was ok and he even thanked and applauded me for being comfortable and trusting to tell him what my trauma was so that he could better understand and make the procedure less stressful for me. I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD since 2018 and I have never been treated with such compassion and empathy. To be reassured multiple times and reminded that it’s ok to not be ok during moments like this, is so significant to me. I genuinely have so much appreciation, I will never forget his kind and genuine words. I cannot remember his name, however, I’m sure if he reads this, he will know who I am and hopefully his name will be posted in a response. Thank you Mr. Dentist, in a moment that I would usually be too ashamed to speak up about, you made me feel safe, comfortable and gave me the opportunity to open up. Most of all, you made me feel normal. You have no idea how much that meant to me. My latest visit was for a crown. Dr Shariff was masterful in ensuring my earlier visit for a filing plus the moulding for both the permanent crown and temporary one went smoothly. Even this visit the insertion of the permanent crown and adjusting of the filing was accomplished effectively.
