Parkland Dental Clinic
Our Dental Team

Dr. Karim Shariff, D.D.S.

I was born in Tanzania and moved to Canada in 1972. I completed the Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees at the University of Alberta. After graduating dental school in 1986, my wife Shenaz and I moved to Red Deer in 1987. I’ve operated the dental clinic in Parkland Mall ever since. I’ve been a member of the Alberta Dental Association for 30 years. I enjoy multiple aspects of dentistry and love providing overall care to families.

My hobbies include extensive volunteer service in the local community. I’ve promoted improving general health as the Chairman of the Aga Khan Health Board for Canada for seven years and promoted dental skills and service delivery enhancement for dental clinics in the Aga Khan Health services network in East Africa. I provide strategic inputs in improving care for seniors in assisted living and long-term care communities and have organized large community events, including the golden and diamond jubilee celebrations of the Aga Khan across Canada. I’m also a member of the advisory board of the Center for Peace and Justice at Burman University in Lacombe, Alberta. Hiking in the mountains are a favourite pastime and I speak at church and other civil society organizations on the subject of promoting pluralism in society.

My greatest satisfaction is derived from treating patients who are nervous or who have had bad experiences in the past. By being patient and using all the skills I have in being empathetic and gentle, I am often able to provide care that improves their quality of life. I am confident in having a strong team that shares my passion for providing the best care we can, in the most professional way we know how, to our community.
